One Time Hair Change

I think if God came down to me and asked if I wanted to change one thing about myself I would change my hair from straight to curly. I've seen my hair curly when I've done it and it just looks so good. I think that straight hair is just so boring and needs volume but curly hair has life and is interesting and beautiful. That's my one change. What's yours

Tis the season for scarves!

I think this year is the year of colorful scarves for gifts and of course for myself. What I love about scarves is they add a touch of bright color to basically any outfit and they add that snugly feeling that doesn't exist any other time of the year. I just love the feeling of a warm scarf wrapped inside my jacket as I walk down the street on a brisk afternoon. It just feels right!

Monogram Rings

I love the idea of Monogrammed rings. I think they are a great fashion statement that is easy to identify with and of course in gold they are the perfect complement to any outfit. I think that this kind of personal branding is really going to be big this year with the whole idea of self-expression. Lady Gaga is bring that back in a big way and I know that all the young girls will catch on shortly. 2010 is going to be the year of the personal brand. You heard it here first.

Vintage T-Shirts are an excellent Holiday Gift

I think that sharing the gift of vintage this holiday season is the best way to help out getting presents for people. By giving people vintage t-shirts I am saving money because I am not spending that much (who can spend a lot right now?) and I am giving something that is cool and good within my fashion code. See below for an example shirt I am going to get Cheri.

Sex and the City and cocktails

One thing I miss about Sex and the City not being on the air anymore is the total lack of cocktail nights with my girls. We used to sit around and drink cosmos when the girls in the show would drink and the we would talk about the shoes and dresses. I miss that so much. I wish they would bring that show back just so we could have those SNC nights again...

Cute Rhinestone Bangle

I love the idea of this Bangle. It is sassy, cute and very fun looking. I am thinking this is the perfect compliment to a night out with the girls or a friday look in the office for a more casual day. It's a good addition to many different outfits.

Whoa Mini-Pompadours are in style?

To me there is nothing you can say that will ever make me think that the mini-pompadour is a stylish haircut. To me it should stay in the Victorian Era where it belongs. I give Michelle a lot of credit for trying to be a fashion trendsetter like JackieO was but I think that this is going a bit too far. I mean to me it looks like she has a giant weave that looks like an eraser on top of her head. It's a no no because it doesn't apply to any situation. Too formal and too outdated. Thanks Michelle for bring fashion back to the white house but lets leave this one style to the fashion museum.

The Half Windsor is back for men's fashoon

Thank Mad Men or alternative musicians that like to dress up, but the half windsor knot is now the new hot knot again for men's ties. I am actually really happy about this. I think the half represents a more acceptable fashion style. I feel the the full windsor is a knot that is full of itself and for those that want to show off. To me, the half windsor is a knot for sophisticated problem solvers. Just the kind of man I want in my life ;)

Art Prints are the Perfect Christmas Gift

I was thinking about what to get some of my high fashion friends for Christmas and I decided that an art print is the perfect gift for them. Think about it, if I got them clothes they would either hate them, be out of style, or never be worn because they clash. With a well done print there is always space on the wall of any room to share it. A print like the one below would never be turned down as a gift for the season. It would be cherished.

Maybe a bit much...

I know Neiman Marcus is nicknamed Needless Markup, but even this price is way over priced. This price is $5,000 just because it is made of crystals. First off, it is ugly as hell and would only match what you are wearing if you were on a beach. And secondly why would I want a purse that costs more than my car???

I don't think so...

The Jean Back Pocket Flaps

I am not sure what era the jean back pocket is from but I can tell you that I am not a fan. This trend is much too classless for me. It takes jeans away from the roots its created when they were for the working man and trues them into some overly fashioned item. I am OK with that for other items, but jeans hold a special place in my heart as items that should always be classic and never fashion forward.

Could you've been fashion foward on Hallowenn?

Shoes like the one above beg the question (very quietly of course) that maybe a girl like myself could have been fashion forward on Halloween and not just dressed up in some slutty costume like all the other sluts out there. I still think it is next to impossible but it is an interesting idea to consider.

The Leather Half-Boot

I was looking at a pair of leather half-boots like the ones above and that got me thinking about how fun a boot this can be. It's perfect for jeans because it doesn't go all the way up your leg and it looks really good with a skirt while hiding the ankles. I can't remember when these became popular but I think it is time for a serious come back on half boots

Kitschy Vintage T-Shirt

I really like this little kitschy vintage t-shirt because it is very cool retro design but also has a powerful message that is about empowering women. I feel like it is a fashionable shirt that is also great to wear. Check out below to see what I mean.

Valentino Hobo

My God, this has to be one of the most beautiful Hobo purses I've ever seen. The petaled leather makes it look like a cake that has been hand crafted my a master baker. It is a great design and at $2,300 I'm sure I will be able to afford it by my 23rd birthday.

The History of the Mini Skirt

There is something about the miniskirt back in the day that just seemed less slutty. Back then it was a statement about finally taking ownership of clothing and having a say in what women wanted to dress in, regardless of modesty standards. Now it seems to be the opposite. The lack of modesty standards have turned women into a version of street walkers where laurels are given to those that wear the least. Just seems sad that one thing that meant liberation now means enslavement.

How to Glow

To really bring out your glow and not look too low there is just one simple tip, Skip the matte powder on your face because it is just going to cover some of your nature luster. Now that's not to say don't use anything, instead, use a sheer tinted moisturizer. You'll get just enough coverage to even out your skin tone without dimming your natural glow in the process. It's actually pretty simple.

The Men’s Polo

I was reading an article on the polo shirt while waiting for a plane and that got me thinking about the amazing journey that piece of fashion has had in such a short time. I mean just a short while ago the polo was just a bit of athletic clothing for Tennis players and now it is a fashion symbol in clubs, bars, work and any other kind of function. It made me think, what else could break from athletics and become main stream like the polo shirt? Are we going to start seeing a line of high fashion sweat bands?

A Custom Binder for Weddings

This is a pretty good idea and way to keep all of your wedding stuff organized by using a wedding binder. I really like this binder because it is so pretty to share with friends and family as you prepare for the big day. I will be getting one of these when I start getting ready for my big day.

Fashionable Costumes

I think that if I am going to dress up for Halloween I want to do something that is more than those stupid sexy outfits that girls wear these days. Instead I think that we should do something that is classy and an homage to where fashion began.

Paris Fashion Week...I Wish...

Oh how I wish I could be one of those commentators at Paris fashion week. I would tear to pieces all the designers and make them cry because their work wasn't good enough for the people of Paris. I would be ruthless but with an eye for design. If I saw something I liked I would hold it up and cherish it and make it a star. But most of the stuff would be trash so this would rarely happen. Anyway, none of this will ever happen because I doubt I will be a host of fashion week in Milan, New York or Paris.

Rocker Chick for Winter

Well according to the runway, it looks like the rocker chick look is coming back into style full force this fall. I've always liked this style because it is fierce and demands attention. Of course I don't have the body to pull it off, but that doesn't mean I can't cheer on those special ladies that do! Go Girls!

Funny Halloween Dress

This is a great dress for halloween! I love the homage to the late 50s movie The Birds with the great Jackie Kennedy dress, of course covered in birds. I think this is a good dress because it is fashionable and of course a funny halloween costume.

Beautiful Wedding Stationery

There is no classier way to send out your thank yous from a wedding than on wedding stationery. It shows that you really care and took time to share how much you cared about him/her attending your wedding. I think the wedding stationery I have below is a perfect example of how you can be classy without spending a lot of money.

Katie Holmes & Yang fashion line

Well I guess acting wasn't enough for Holmes because she has now introduced a fashion line. Part of me wonders if this line was financed by the media-mogul of a husband she has because I doubt that she has the money to be doing this herself. Anyways, below is Holmes wearing one of the dresses from her new line and I have to say that it starts out nice at the top and becomes a total failure as it gets close to the bottom. I mean it looks like she is wearing a black potato sack around her waist. If the rest of the line (unveiling this week) is anything like this Holmes buyers will be sure to be asking "SHOW ME THE REFUND!"

Emmy Dresses

I love the Emmys and not because of the TV, but because of the dresses. It gives the elite designers of a the world another chance to show of their dresses on something other than a petite model. I mean look at Tina Fey and Julia Lewis Dryfus in these beautiful Vera Wang dresses. I mean these dresses are beautiful and bring out the great qualities in these women.

Fashion Week!

I love NY Fashion Week because it is the best of all the fashion weeks and has the best designers. The rumor that I've heard is this year is a little thin on designers because of the cost of entering the program and the financial crisis. But there are still some good designs and I will let you know if I find anything that is worth it in the future.

Fashions of the future!

I love this youtube video about fashions of the future. They were just a bit off. Makes me wonder how off we are going to be about the future...

Holiday Photo Cards

I know that Christmas is so far off, but I was just looking around on the net for some interesting holiday card designs because it makes me smile and think of all the family fun that the holidays are. I mean I just can't wait to watch snow fall at my parents' house and wrap myself in choco and a blanket. It's going to be beautiful like it is every year and like this contemporary photo card is.

Fashion on the Tennis Court

I am not immune to the world that is going on around me and it seems that pro athletes are not either. Check out the shoes on this fabulous tennis player below. She obviously wants to be considered a fashionable woman while serving up a helping of beautiful tennis, all in style of course. I have to love the mixing of fashion with other popular things like sports, it's just fastastic!

Red is the new black?

So I've been reading on a couple of fashion sites that red is starting to replace black as the go to color for runway and red carpet events which begs the question: Is red the new black? People that are looking for a fashion headline would of course tell you this is the case. But the more conservative analysts know a trend when they see one. There is a reason the little black dress has endured for 100 years - it goes with everything. After a while the red will find something new to clash with and you'll see red dresses dotting the trash cans of Milan, Paris and New York faster than you can say "don't wear white after labor day."

Tights and Heels

It seems that even more of the 80s is making a comeback but for me I really like this one. I've always liked the tights and heels look. It just seems so much like what a model would wear to me and it seems city ciche without being over the top. So bring on the tight styles. I'm ready.

Shoulder Pad Blazers are BACK!?

Are Shoulder pad jackets for women coming back into style?! Yikes! I thought we got rid of these with pegged jeans and hairspray. I hope that these don't come back into style but I can see that I am already bucking the trend as celebrities are starting to dawn them which is the beginning of the end for the rest of us. It's cool I guess but I am going to resist with ardent fury the adopting of this latest trend.

Fashion is Danger Shirt

I don't know if you all remember my post about the funny youtube video about fashion being dangerous. Well I thought that was a great post and I also thought it would be great to share this shirt that I found based off the video. This is a pretty funny shirt.

Return of the Leather Pants?

So I was at a pizza place last night with my dad and I saw some High School kids eating and two of the girls were wearing leather pants. I thought it was strange but I decided to investigate because usually HS kids know the trends long before someone my ages gets wind. So I did some research and apparently it is true! Leather pants are starting to come back in style in a big way! Very strange to me since I never thought they were more than something for a hair metal band to wear but they are back and here to stay. So get some cow hide on you before you are a walking fashion faux paux

Candy Gadgets

I just saw this on Kaboodle and I of course had to repost it. I mean look at how cute this chocolate calculator is!

Paris Subway Dress

I am not sure I would wear this dress in Paris because of the very rude men there but I do think this is a good idea for a dress. Not only is it useful but it is also really quite beautiful with all the strong geometric lines and coloring on it. I think I could see this is as a strong summer dress while vacationing.

Killer Lip Gloss

Ok, I've tried lots of good no stick lip glosses and this one for sure tops my list. It's got sunscreen and that other good stuff in it, but the best part is the collagen makes your lips look like you've been going to a plastic surgeon (in a good way) for the past ten years. So go get it. Called Target Red and it is really cheap - starting around $10.

Save the Planet - Grocery Tote Bag

We can all do something that is going to be helpful to this Earth and for those that will inherit it from us. I think that one thing I am going to do is start shopping with an organic tote bag like the one below. I really like the idea of shopping with these because it doesn't pollute and is a bit more fashionable than a bag lady plastic bag on my arm ;)

Fashion is Danger Video

I have to admit this is a really funny music video from the “Flight of the Concords” duo. Not sure I agree that fashion is danger, but some of those pointy hair does are for sure dangerous.

The Male Hair

Why is it that with us girls our hair is more beautiful when we spend hours making it straight, curly or just adding that bounce and sheen to it. But for men, the worse their hair looks the better it looks. I mean look at this celebrity below. His hair looks like a positive mess yet all the young girls are absolutely in love with him. Pretty interesting and a little annoying. It has to be so easy to be a guy!

Deadly Sin Wine Glasses

These are really cool wine glasses designed after each of the seven deadly sins. I would say that these would look great in my apartment for a party but I would be so worried about someone breaking them that I doubt I would ever let them get used. Sad but true..

Wrath

Pride

Gluttony

Greed

Lust

X

Envy

Bangs are Going Strong!

Who would have ever thought that bangs would come back in our lifetime and do so well on young girls these days? Well I didn't at least. But I am happy to see them back I think they look sophisticated and young without coming off as dated. I love the make over that is shown above because it brings her hair around her face and frames her eyes really well. I think bangs are back and are here to stay indeed!

A Classic American Summer Boat Ride

Sometimes I look back to classic fashions of the summer and miss a little bit of what we have lost as a society. I mean look at Bacall and Bogart in this boat ride. Skin isn't what makes them attractive here, it is their casual smiles, there cool demeanor and of course their keen sense of self as represented by their classic boating clothes. They don't show too much skin because they don't need to show that skin. They are able to ooze the energy they need to with their charm and eyes. I miss the skill and effort that many put into acting and modeling to achieve that without showing boobs, butts and legs.
