Return of the Leather Pants?

So I was at a pizza place last night with my dad and I saw some High School kids eating and two of the girls were wearing leather pants. I thought it was strange but I decided to investigate because usually HS kids know the trends long before someone my ages gets wind. So I did some research and apparently it is true! Leather pants are starting to come back in style in a big way! Very strange to me since I never thought they were more than something for a hair metal band to wear but they are back and here to stay.
