I was visiting my parents last night and in case I had forgotten that football season is coming up my dad was able to remind me (thanks dad)! I seriously think that he get more excited about fantasy football with his friends than he would he he won the lotto. He has been playing with the same group of lunk heads from his office for like five years and they all get into it and act like total morons. One time I had the privilege of being home for a game an enduring the friends and my dad at the height of their obsession. THat said, I noticed that while my dad was cooking he didn't have a good apron, so since his birthday is coming up I thought this would be an awesome apron for him to wear to show off to his friends.

Gwen wins VMA transformation award
Gwen Stefani has to be considered one of the greatest music + fashion success of all time. I mean just look at this image alone from the outfits that she wore to successive MTV VMAs.

In the first frame she is just another punk rocker that doesn't care about her dress or fashion statement. In the second frame Gwen does a complete 180 degree turn and becomes a 1950s pinup in this BEAUTIFUL Louie dress and with hair that would make any girl give up at least three toes to have. I think we could say that this dress at the 06 VMAs was Gwen's birth into fashion. But no, she doesn't stop there. Then she launches her own clothing line and instead of it being some tacky K-Mart crap (Sarah Jessica Parker) it is high fashion and she even wears it! At the 07 VMAs there is Gwen looking stunning in a dress off her own line and really strutting her stuff like she owns the carpet. I love it because she is fully behind her line, it's not just a side project to her, it's part of her life. That is awesome and that was the complete circle of her becoming a fashion diva.
I think we can all agree that this year's VMA is going to be something from her own line again and it is going to be HOT. Gwen you are one of the best/most real fashion icon that music has ever produced. We love to watch, thanks!

Floral is Fresh

The boys over at InStyle for sure have their finger on the pulse right now as floral prints do seem to be the next big hot trend right now. What I love about floral prints is that they are so colorful that you can't help but smile. I don't think I have ever seen a sad person in floral, have you? Anyway, the weather is nice and it is a perfect time to get that rose print dress out and go get some brunch! I hear the raspberry croquets are delicious :)

Washing your Hair

Put down the shampoo! I think I need to educate the world about how often and what do when when washing your hair. First off, you should wash your hair maybe once every couple of days, NOT EVERYDAY! Those natural oils in your scalp give hair that shine and luster that chemicals can only hope to do. But when you do wash your hair you need to use a protein shampoo and a conditioner to bring your hair back to the natural state as if you haven't washed it. That is all I have to say. I think following these simple steps will ensure that the world is a little more lustery and hairy :)

CUTE Custom Shoes
I so rarely find something really interesting to write about these days but these cute custom shoes are just that! Apparently you can now upload your own artwork on this website and create shoes with it. So there are lots of artists that are now uploading artwork and creating shoes. I found these ones rather quickly and was just totally blown away by how amazing they are! To me they look like an Ed Hardy design that you would have to pay at least $400 for, but they are only $60! I think I am going to get a pair of these Keds custom shoes and just tell everyone they are Ed Hardy designs :)

What not to watch.

I love fashion and getting people dressed in a way that is fashionable and comfortable for them, but I can for sure tell you that I hate the show on TLC “What not to Wear.” First off, they don’t even teach the people about the outfits that they dress them. This means that those people will have one outfit that is put together correctly and then will have to go back to their normal clothes. Also, the condescending nature of the hosts is awful. Wow, let’s take someone that is already self-conscious and then insult them for at least 20 minutes, that’s going to do a lost for their self esteem. Fashion is about becoming confident and comfortable and with people being harassed like that there is no way they will ever be comfortable looking good and they might even begin to fear haut-fashion. It is a sad show and I want it off the air now!

Not in my house
So I happened to catch an episode of “Run’s House” last night on MTV and I was totally shocked by the idiocy of the directors of KIDS fashion. Basically the sun of Rev Run, Diggy (13 years old) was able to walk into their office with no formal pitch, no real idea other than “spacin’ out” (a great message to send to children) and get a contract for a clothing line. To me this is appalling and should not be encouraged by Rev Run or by MTV. There are two things that could be happening here. Either the KIDS execs are just so dumb that they actually bought the idea from Diggy, or it just another attempt to market to children using a child. If it is the latter (which I believe it is), it feels like this is on the level of tobacco execs using a cartoon to sell cigarettes. Anyway, I am sick of this abuse of our child culture and I want to protect the children more than we do. Don’t let Diggy believe his is all that with a clothing line that isn’t even his and don’t let children believe that they too can lead a life so up in the clouds that it is hardly believable like Diggy’s is.

These Styles are GOLD!

I am really digging the styles for the olympics this summer because they are simple and beautiful with clean, classic lines. Kudos to Polo for going back to the classics with this collection. It really speaks to the roots of American fashion and the distant past and ties we had to the polo ground of England. See all of the collection here

A shoe for each month calendar
Shoes are truly the foundation of fashion! We stand on them, and they make the clicking on the pavement that draws those wayward male eyes to us. A ensemble without the right shoes is like walking around the hospital with your gown open - you just don't do it unless you're a crazy person! That is why I think all should get this shoe affirmation calendar to remind us why we are so crazy about shoes. If I ever become a famous person like Sarah Jessica Parker you can be sure I too will have a Jimmy clause to make sure I get all the shoes I need to be cemented as top of the fashion pole.
