Apple design Mug?

I came across this mug for sale and it must be done by the same artist that does the iPod ads for apple all over the place. It's got that same silhouetted person with the crazy vector background full of color. I really like this design and all the colors, it makes me feel like I would dance in the morning every time I took a sip of my coffee.

Sex and the City Tomorrow!

So in case you haven't ever watched Sex and the City and hate fashion (why are you reading this blog?) this movie comes out tomorrow at midnight and I will be going in my best couture I can find (I don't have Jummy Choos yet, but soon...). I am hoping for some big conclusions to the season and see how BIG is doing. Anyway, I will see you at the premiere!

BTW, favorite character? Charlotte - no contest.

Gap SF T-shirt exhibit

So Gap is doing something interesting for this Memorial Day, they are taking famous artists and giving them a new canvas - t-shirts. At the Gap store in Union Square in San Francisco, CA there are shirts on display from artists like:

Chuck Close, Jeff Koons, Marilyn Minter, Kiki Smith, Cai Guo-Qiang, Barbara Kruger, Ashley Bickerton, Kenny Scharf, Glenn Ligon, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Kerry James Marshall, Hanna Liden and Sarah Sze

This is an interesting trend that shoe companies, fashion companies and everyone else seems to embrace. Basically the canvas, the art is now something you display with pride as you walk around shopping, or doing whatever else you do during the day. In essence, you (the person wearing the art) becoming a living interaction with the art and actually change the meaning of each piece because of how you as an unique person wear it. This is pretty cool I think, creating art that is designed to interact with and isn't something that you just put on a wall and muse about. It's pretty, functional, and fashionable!

Print Dresses Making a Come Back

I love the comeback of the print dresses, the simplicity in the colors and designs really plays out in this style. There is beautiful design but it is not overpowering with lots of color. The cut of the dress is very classic, not too formal and not too casual which is awesome. Anyways, I am going to get a new print dress sometime soon...

Stamping the start of Flip Flop Season!

I am getting excited that is is flip flop season now, so that I can break out my collection of just under 8 pairs of flip flops (I know, I will be getting more this season). For those that think that is too many, you obviously are stuck in 1985 and don't realize that there is a flip flop for every type of occasion, going out, going to dinner, the shower, driving, etc. there is even some type that people get for the beach. So I want to officially STAMP the start of flip flop season. hehehe, I saw this flip flop stamp and I thought it was too good not to share with this post, sue me if you think it is dumb.

Spandex a tad reveling

I am happy the spandex trend seems to be coming to an end and baggy clingy pants are becoming more fashionable. Because, to tell the truth, spandex is really not good for most people unless you are under the age of 26 and workout at least 6 times a week. Otherwise all it does is say “hey world, this is me in all of my under-muscle-toned glory!” And nobody really wants to see that. I am not the most in-shape person and I am OK with that, even a little proud of not being one of those stick girls or over worked-out girls. But I don’t flaunt it, I just let it be and wear clothes and pants that fit me well, not too tight and not too loose. That’s basically the rule I think all men and women should take.

Hippie is Cool Again

So I was reading Style and apparently the hippie look is coming back a little bit. That's a little crazy because we just got done with the 80s which was all about wealth and now we seem to be tipping the opposite end of the spectrum into the hippie culture which is all about free, sharing, love, etc. What is cool about this collection from the Whitney Museum is that it really has a little more of a rock feel to it, so now it is not just free love, it is also about rocking out. I don't really like the looseness of the clothes, but I am sure the more ready-to-wear stuff will be tighter to fight with the skanky way we all dress now.

At least they got the zip off pants right...

This is an interesting video found on a men's website (I don't recommend browsing the rest of the site, trust me) about what people in 2000 would dress in, this movie was made in 1930. Check it out here. Most of the stuff is way off, but it is surprising to see that some of the designs are not that far from what we do have today. Zip off clothing is a big thing for hiking and sharper image does have a neck thingy that helps control the body temperature. Now I am just waiting for aluminum pants suits and we'll be set.

Fashion Poems are Fashionable

Ha! Look at this mug with a little Fashion Haiku! I love it, not only can you share the world of fashion with people, but also look fashionable doing it. There is nothing about this that could go wrong, well unless you spill coffee on yourself. Stains haven't been in fashion since the early 90s and even then it was really only for boy shirts.

Sock Matching Rule

I take the bus every so often and I can't help but see how many people break the simple rules of matching your socks to what you wear. Come one people, it is not that hard to remember and it is going to make you look way more put together. Of course if you are super trendy this rule doesn't apply because you know how to unmatch things properly (that only applies to people who know what I am talking about, all others read on and learn the rules)

1. If you are dressing formal or even casual you should match your socks to your skirt or pants. That means if you are wearing a dark shirt you better be wearing dark socks.

2. If it is a casual situation then it is OK to match your socks to your shirt or blouse. But only in a casual situation!

See how easy that was? I am just making the world a better place one small step at a time...
